Can students apply to multiple internships at once?
- No - students can only apply to a single internship at a given time. Due to the rules governing deposit refunds, and to avoid confusion with an employer selecting a candidate and that candidate declining the offer to participate, students can only apply to one internship at a time. However, if a student is not selected for a particular internship, then a student may apply at a later date for another internship if space is available.

How can a student forfeit his or her deposit?
- If a student rescinds his or her application or does not participate in good faith in the application process, then the student will forfeit his or her deposit. Also, if a student is selected and thus receives an offer to participate in the internship program, and the student declines to accept it, or a student accepts an offer to participate, but later is unable to participate, then the student will forfeit his or her deposit.

On what basis will a student's deposit be refunded?
- If a student submits an application, reasonably follows through with the application requirements, and is not selected to participate in the internship program, then the student's deposit will be refunded.

What class grades may participate?
- Students should check with their school representative to determine which school grades can participate. High School Intern's minimum requirement as to which class grades may participate is that a student must presently be in high school at the time the application is submitted to be eligible to participate, but preference will be given to students in higher class grades. Thus, seniors will be given preference over juniors, and juniors will be given preference over sophomores, etc. Please note, though, that a given school or school program may elect to further restrict class grade participation.

Should students expect to be selected to participate in the internship program if they submit an application?
- High School Intern's internship program is designed to be highly competitive, and selective. Thus, the expectation should be that a number of students who apply will not be selected due to the number of applicants for a particular internship. However, if students are not accepted in a given year, High School Interns encourages those students to apply again in a subsequent year if possible.

What happens if a student misses an application deadline?
- The deadlines are important to manage expectations and improve communication between HSi Participants, which includes employers, High School Interns, schools, and applicants. As a result, a student should generally interpret a deadline as a firm deadline. If a student misses a deadline and can demonstrate that it is unintentional and due to extenuating circumstances, then a student may write an essay accompanied by a letter of recommendation by a school representative for High School Intern's consideration. After review, High School Interns may allow the student to still apply.

How will a student know if he or she has not been selected to participate in the internship program?
- If a student has not heard back from High School Interns or the potential employer within four weeks of submitting an application, or two to four weeks after completing an interview, then the student should assume that he or she is no longer being considered, and has not been selected. There are no formal notices that are sent out to students who have not been selected.

May a student request an internship in a particular profession that is not presently available?
- There are two ways a student may request an internship in a profession that is not presently available - one is to submit a formal internship request, and the second is to provide internship feedback. Both types of requests should be made through the Contact HSi page. One of the key differences between internship feedback and a formal internship request is that internship feedback is offering thoughts on how to improve the program where a formal internship request is a specific request that is accompanied by a deposit. May a student apply for an internship if High School Interns is not working with his or her school?
- No - High School Intern's requires that students be enrolled in a HSi Participating High School to apply. If students are unsure as to whether their school is participating, High School Intern's recommends that students first check with their college counseling department. Otherwise, students may contact High School Interns directly to inquire on whether their school is participating. To contact High School Interns directly, students should use the Contact HSi page. On the Contact HSi page, please complete the required fields, and select School Representative Request in particular as the subject.

How long does it take for a deposit to be refunded?
- Once it has been determined that a student is entitled to a refund, the average length of time for a deposit to be refunded is one to two weeks.

Can a parent or legal guardian apply for an internship on behalf of a student?
- No - the student must actually apply to be consider for the internship program. However, if a student is under eighteen years old, certain documents may require a parent's or legal guardian's signature, as well. Regardless, it is recommended that all students talk about the internship program with their parents or legal guardian prior to applying.

How do employers sign up to offer an internship?
- There is no automatic employer sign up to offer an internship. However, to inquire on offering an internship, go to the Contact HSi page, select Employer as the contact type, select Request Internship Information as the subject, complete the other required fields, and click submit to send the request. After review of the request, a High School Intern's representative will strive to assist you.

Can a student check on the status of his or her application?
- Yes - a student may check on the status of his or her application by going to the Contact HSi page, completing the required fields, and selecting Application Status in particular as the subject. For applications forwarded to employers, High School Interns will send a confirmation email letting the respective school representative know that a student's application has been forwarded. After submission of the application, though, there is a specific time frame that High School Interns has given to gauge whether or not a student has been selected for an interview or selected to participate in the program. If the request is within that time frame, then High School Interns will simply refer to the timeline to answer the request. Otherwise, High School Interns may check on the particular application if appropriate to determine the status.

Can a student apply for an internship directly through High School Interns?
- No - a student must submit his or her application through an HSi School Representative. Thus, applications that are submitted directly by students through High School Interns will not be considered. If a student is unsure of his or her school representative, it is recommended that the student first check with the respective school's college counseling department. Otherwise, a student may inquire with High School Interns. To inquire on whether a student's school is participating, please go to the Contact HSi page, complete the required fields, select School Representative as the subject, and click submit to send the request.

Should a student work with an HSi Career Specialist?
- A student should not feel obligated to work with an HSi Career Specialist. If a student believes that working with a professional in resume and cover letter writing would be beneficial, High School Interns is able to offer an HSi Career Specialist to assist.

What is required for a student to apply?
- To apply, without seeking financial assistance, a student must complete the HSi Resume Template and the HSi Cover Letter Template. Both documents are available for download under the Program Overview page on the High School Intern's website. Further, the student and/or parent/legal guardian must sign the Liability Release Agreement, and the Name and Likeness Agreement. The HSi Resume and Cover Letter must be emailed to the student's HSi School Representative, and a signed hard copy of the Liability Release Agreement and Name and Likeness Agreement must be hand delivered to the HSi School Representative. If a student is also seeking financial assistance, then the student must also complete the HSi Financial Assistance Application in addition to the other four documents, which is available for download under the Program Overview page on the High School Intern's website.

What if a student is unsure of his or her school representative?
- If a student is unsure of his or her school representative, it is recommended that the student first go to the college counseling department. Otherwise, students may contact High School Interns directly through the Contact HSi page. What if a student is unable to open a document on the site?
- If a student is unable to open a document, after downloading it from the Program Overview page on the the High School Intern's website, the student should go to the Contact HSi page. At the Contact HSi page, the student should complete the required fields, select document request in particular as the subject, in the message box indicate the preferred document type, and click submit to send the request. High School Interns will review the request and see if the document can be emailed to the student in the preferred document type. If so, High School Interns will email the document in the requested document type to the respective student.

Where do you go to pay the $150 program fee?
- To pay the $150 program fee, a student should go to the Student Cost section in the Program Overview page on the High School Intern's website. Within the Student Cost section, there is a payment button to click on to make a payment. The payment must be made using a credit card - checks or other forms of payment will not be accepted.
